DICTIONARY PROJECT |
| |
| |
On September 9, 2009, the Scenic City Kiwanis Club participated in providing dictionaries to third-grade students in Iowa Falls. A total of 76 student dictionaries were given to the third-graders, each dictionary having the student's name inscribaed on the inner page. These dictionaries are the property of the students and Kiwanians hope that the dictionaries will be used throughout their secondary school experience. Rock Run Elementary Principal Mike Swartzendruber assisted Kiwanians Steve Shane, Netha Brada and Annette Sweeney in the distribution of the dictionaries, pictured here in Mrs. Weidemann's classroom. The Dictionary Project is an annual project of the Scenic City of Iowa Falls Kiwanis Club. |

CHILD SAFETY SEAT INSPECTION |
| |
On September 15, 2009, the Scenic City Kiwanis Club assisted two certified child passenger safety technicians, Bobbi Brocka and Cindy Henricks, to inspect child safety seats. The inspection was held at the Iowa Falls Fire Station. and was well-attended. What was scheduled as a 3-hour even turned into 4 hours with a higher-than-expected turnout. A total of 39 child safety seats were checked and of those 39, 13 were removed from circulation. Of the 13 removed, 4 were donated to the Iowa Falls Fire Staion for Fire Rescue Training. 15 new seats were given to families in need. A second event for spring 2019 is being considered due to the success of the recent inspection. Scenic City Kiwanis Club President Steve Shane is pictured presenting a check for $250 toward the child safety seat program. Scenic City Kiwanis Club of Iowa Falls is prould to be a supporter of this program, which assists families in keeping their children safe. |
